Volunteer for the Festival

The New Island Festival seeks motivated, organized, smart, and energetic volunteers for the two weekends of the festival.

The New Island Festival is seeking motivated, organized, smart, and energetic volunteers.

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced New York theatre professionals and top-notch Dutch artists in departments ranging from audience services to company management for this one-of-a-kind festival.

Additionally, all volunteers are invited to attend the festival performances and activities for free.  

No matter your level of availability, we have a job to fit your talents!

Available positions:


Responsibilities include: box office staff support, artist relations, information services, audience relations, ushering.

Time commitment: shifts will run 4-6 hours in length and we would love to have you work with as many days as you can. All volunteers are required to attend an orientation session during the week of August 31.


Those who are interested in an intensive hands-on learning experience with the festival over the course of a month are encouraged to apply for an internship.

Responsibilities include: company management and production department support, house management, artist services.

The internship will run from Monday, August 31 through Friday, September 25th.  Your daily work schedule can be adjusted around university classes.


Volunteer training session: you must attend one session during the week of August 31
Set-up/dress rehearsals: Tuesday, September 8 – Wednesday, September 9
Festival Weekend #1: Thursday, September 10 – Sunday, September 13
Festival Weekend #2: Thursday, September 17 – Sunday, September 20
