Sometimes giving the audience a fly-on-the-wall’s perspective to a private domestic event, and other times placing the action so far away that you can’t hear the performers, this distinctive form of theatre is intensely effecting. Often based on documentary material, Dakar’s productions challenge some of our most basic assumptions about the way we live.
